What is your current role?

I work at the Higashi-Osaka Pipe Factory, where I handle sales for all kinds of processed pipe products. More specifically, I am involved in sales and customer support related to bending metal pipes for heat exchanger components, as well as the associated welding work and delivery coordination. I also frequently wear work clothes myself and take part in welding and pipe bending on-site.

What do you find interesting and rewarding about your work?

Pipe processing products are not mass-produced in fixed shapes. Instead, each product is custom-made according to the customer’s design. I find great satisfaction in taking on difficult processing projects that other companies have declined, discussing specifications with customers, and turning what once seemed “impossible” into a finished product. It’s a highly individualized type of work where collaboration with skilled craftsmen and personal creativity truly matter.

What led you to join Tatsumiya Metal? Do you have any memorable stories from when you joined?

I was job hunting the year after the Lehman Shock, and even after applying to nearly a hundred companies, I still couldn’t secure a position. In order to keep my new graduate status, I delayed graduating from university and essentially became a job-search ronin. Shortly after that, the current president — who at the time was the president’s father — offered me the opportunity to work as a part-time employee for a year. After that period, I officially joined the company.

What is the workplace atmosphere like, and what are your impressions of your coworkers?

Everyone here is genuinely warm and approachable. There are very few people who get angry, and no matter what you ask, people will kindly teach you. Senior employees have always treated me well, and in recent years the company has been focusing more on hiring new graduates, so we’ve been seeing more fresh faces every year. It’s a homey environment with a sense of freedom. Even company gatherings are never mandatory — you can join only when you want to — which makes it easy to feel comfortable here.

What values or mindset do you currently consider most important in your work?

More than prioritizing company profits, I place the highest importance on helping customers solve the problems they are facing.

Do you have a message for people interested in joining Tatsumiya Metal?

We are a bright and energetic workplace where young employees have many opportunities to thrive. If you are confident in manufacturing or hands-on work, or if you want to challenge yourself with metal processing that can only be experienced here, we would love for you to come visit us. Let’s work together!
